Liontrust Asset Management has strengthened its investment platform following the acquisition of River Global Holdings, increasing assets under management and advice to £24.3bn.
The acquisition supports Liontrust’s strategy of broadening its investment capabilities while enhancing its offering across sustainable investing, fixed income, multi-asset portfolios and global equities.
Acquisition expands investment capabilities
The acquisition of River Global added approximately £3bn of assets under management and advice to Liontrust’s business.
It also brought eight top-quartile investment funds into the group, strengthening Liontrust’s investment proposition across a wider range of asset classes and strategies.
Following the transaction, Liontrust now has 29 funds ranked in either the first or second quartile over a three-year period.
Supporting long-term growth
Liontrust said the enlarged business is better positioned to meet changing client demand through a broader range of investment solutions for institutional, retail and international clients.
The acquisition also expands the firm’s fixed income expertise while strengthening its overall investment platform and global distribution capabilities.
Although the business recorded net outflows of £357m during the quarter, this represented a significant improvement compared with the same period last year. Liontrust also reported recent institutional mandate wins and improving client engagement.
Strategic focus
The acquisition reflects a broader trend across the investment management sector, where firms continue to strengthen their capabilities through targeted acquisitions rather than focusing solely on increasing scale.
By combining additional investment expertise with broader product choice, Liontrust has positioned itself to support future growth while expanding the range of solutions available to clients.
