Lumin Wealth has completed its 11th acquisition since 2019, acquiring London-based Gresham Financial Strategies Ltd and adding £140m in assets under management. The deal increases Lumin Wealth’s total AUM to £1.5bn and further strengthens its position within the UK financial advice market.
The acquisition forms part of the wider Lumin VZ Group, which continues to expand its presence across key UK regions.
Strengthening Presence in London and the South East
The acquisition of Gresham Financial Strategies supports Lumin Wealth’s strategic focus on expanding its footprint in London and the South East.
Markus Graf, Chief Financial Officer of Lumin VZ Group, said the deal enhances the firm’s regional presence and reinforces its long-term growth strategy. He highlighted that Lumin continues to partner with firms that share its culture and professional standards.
As a result, the group aims to build a more consistent client experience across its expanding network.
A Growing National Advice and DFM Platform
Lumin Wealth operates as both a financial advice firm and discretionary fund manager. It has offices in St Albans, London, Reading, Bishop’s Stortford, Beaconsfield and Dorset.
Since 2021, it has been part of VZ Holding AG, Switzerland’s largest independent financial advice group, with a market capitalisation of around £6bn.
This backing has supported Lumin’s acquisition-led strategy and its broader ambition to scale across the UK market.
Continuity and Client-Focused Integration
David Turner, Director at Gresham Financial Strategies, said joining Lumin Wealth provides continuity of financial planning support while maintaining a focus on stability and service quality.
He noted that Lumin’s long-term vision and client-first approach were key factors in the decision to proceed with the transaction.
In addition, he highlighted confidence in Lumin’s ability to safeguard client relationships through its established infrastructure and reputation.
Continued Acquisition Momentum
The latest deal follows a series of strategic transactions, including the acquisition of the mortgage arm of RBS Associates in March. It also builds on Lumin’s earlier move in June 2023, when Davidson Deem became an appointed representative of Lumin Wealth, expanding its mortgage capabilities.
Overall, these acquisitions demonstrate a continued focus on broadening service offerings and strengthening integrated financial planning solutions.
Succession and Consolidation in the Advice Market
The transaction reflects a wider trend of consolidation across the UK financial advice sector, where firms are increasingly seeking scale, operational resilience, and long-term succession solutions.
For business owners considering succession planning, working with an experienced broker such as Gunner & Co can help identify suitable partners, prepare the business for transaction, and ensure client continuity is maintained throughout the process.
Early engagement can also improve outcomes by aligning culture, structure, and valuation expectations ahead of a potential sale.
