Lucky number 13 for AFH

AFH today announced it was joining forces with Bedfordshire’s Ashton House IFA in its 13th deal of this financial year.
Ashton House IFA was set up in Dunstable by Tony James in 1994. It currently has around 800 clients and £100m under management.
Tony, who had previously worked at Abbey National, said:
“Like many independent financial advisers, I saw my business grow, which was great but meant that I ended up running a business: HR, admin, managing an office. I found that was taking me away from what I wanted to do, which was work with my clients.
“Then you add in MiFID and the rest of the compliance piece, and I saw that joining forces with a group that could take on all that and leave me free to be an IFA full time was a win for me and a win for my clients.”
Most of Ashton House IFA’s clients live in Bedfordshire and London, though Tony still advises some in Australia and Kenya.
AFH chief executive Alan Hudson said:
“It’s great to welcome Tony and his clients to AFH. Joining forces was a great opportunity to build our presence in London and the Home Counties. And it’s another example of how a small IFA has found a welcome and supportive home at AFH.
“This deal extends AFH’s client base and coverage within the Home Counties and compliments other acquisitions we’ve made in 2018, including Harrison White and Monopoly Financial Consultants which we announced earlier this year.”
This is the fourth expansion in as many weeks for AFH, cementing the group’s position as one of the largest independent financial services firms in the country.
