Succession acquires Investors Planning Associates

Succession Wealth has purchased Investors Planning Associates, adding £500m in funds under management. This marks Succession’s eleventh acquisition since 2018. 

Along with the half a billion AUM, Succession has also gained 18 planners and nearly 2000 clients. Succession now has 22,000 clients and almost £8.5bn funds under management. 

Mark Day, the new director of mergers and acquisitions, who was appointed in September, is steering the company towards the firm’s target of managing over £10bn in funds. In addition to Mr Day, Succession also appointed a head of integration who is responsible for the smooth integration of acquired firms into Succession. 

Chief executive of Succession, James Stevenson, spoke optimistically about the transaction:  “IPA is a quality business, with an excellent reputation. It has a significant number of professionals working in sport and entertainment who require specialist financial advice. 

“Both our firms share a similar distributed model structure, with planners operating across multiple locations in England and Scotland. 

“This means we can integrate and support IPA’s planners wherever they are based. I see a very positive future for IPA’s clients and staff within the group.”

IPA’s CEO, Jo-Anne Smithson, commented: “As we approached the milestone of our 50th year, we recognised that we needed to be part of a larger organisation so we could secure the next 50 years for our clients and staff.
