Tweed Wealth Management, the St James’s Place appointed representative firm, has purchased the wealth arm of Inverness legal firm Macleod & MacCallum.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that Macleod & MacCallum’s directors will take on a minority stake in Tweed Wealth Management as part of the deal’s terms.
Tweed Wealth Management, which is based in Edinburgh, is headed up by wife and husband Alison Welsh and Chris Tweed. The company has taken to the unorthodox strategy of onboarding former professional rugby players as financial advisers, with three former rugby stars under their employment.
Ms Welsh commented that the deal was “a big step forward for the business”.
“It takes us to six client-facing advisers working from Inverness alone – but through our growth plans we believe we can get that up to at least 14 within the next three years,” she said. “We believe there is still a lot of untapped potential.”
Mr Tweed commented: “The potential to expand is truly exciting and I look forward to forming a formidable partnership with the wider Macleod & MacCallum team.”
The acquisition of Macleod & MacCallum is Tweed Wealth’s fifth acquisition so far.
