Alpha UK Holdings purchases Wimbledon-based IFA

Alpha UK Holdings, the affiliate company of South African firm AlphaWealth, has purchased Holborn Financial IFA.

AlphaWealth services high net worth individuals in South Africa, while London-based Alpha UK Holdings deals with South African expatriates in the UK. The acquisition will make Wimbledon-based Holborn the main brand for advising Alpha’s international clients.

A statement on the Holborn Financial website read: “The reason for the acquisition is essentially twofold: Firstly, it will bolster Holborn’s resources, enabling all our clients to continue to benefit from a high-quality level of advice and service. Secondly, it will allow Holborn to provide advice to a select number of UK-resident international clients introduced by Alpha and others.”

Kerry Fynn, AlphaWealth group CEO, commented:

“We are extremely happy to be able to partner with the team at Holborn Financial and this acquisition marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for both of us as we collaboratively grow the business.

“Alpha has decided to expand its UK presence through this acquisition to support the growth of Holborn Financial and we are very glad to be on this journey with the Holborn team,” he added.

Holborn’s founder, Emyr Blease, will remain in his position as managing director. Meanwhile, Nigel Speirs is set to join as the new chairman. Their company advises around £150m in assets across 150 clients.

Mr Blease said:

“We have built up a successful business advising discerning private clients, entrepreneurs, and those seeking a comfortable retirement.

“Holborn has the same values as Alpha, primarily providing excellent levels of personal service. We look forward to growing our business both organically and through acquisition. Alpha’s expertise, resources and support will be fundamental to the successful rollout of the merged firms.”

Mr Speirs, future chair of Holborn Financial, added:

“I am looking forward to working with Emyr and the Alpha team in building Holborn Financial in the UK. Both are strong believers in doing the right thing for clients and this ethos will underpin the new venture.”
